What you need

  • IELTS 6 or TOEFL 80Academic; One Skill Retake / Indicator / Online formats not accepted. iBT, for tests sat before 21 Jan 2026 (4.5/6 banding for tests on/after that date); Home Edition / Best Scores formats not accepted.
  • CUHK's own country-requirements table lists the specific Mongolian qualification accepted: Certificate of Complete Secondary Education (Бүрэн дунд боловсролын үнэмлэх) with an overall average of 90/100.
  • applicant.adm.cuhk.edu.hk online application, HK$500 fee
  • Personal statement, max 4,000 characters, explaining programme choice (Medicine applicants add a further 250-word statement)
  • SAT (1190/1600) or ACT (24 composite) + 2 AP exams at grade 3+ is the pathway for the separate US-diploma route, not required for the Mongolian-certificate pathway above.
  • Interviews only for shortlisted candidates.
  • Only one CUHK application per cycle is permitted.

CUHK's own page names the designated countries explicitly: 'Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar and Thailand,' among other Belt and Road countries.

Lead with CUHK over HKU/HKUST for this family -- it is the only Hong Kong university that names both Mongolia AND a specific full-tuition scholarship explicitly.
