What the scholarship covers

International Student Award (ISA): 15% contribution to Diploma or Pre-Masters tuition per term, for the duration of the program, for citizens of a defined list of eligible countries that explicitly includes Mongolia.

What you need

  • IELTS 5.5University English Entry Course (UEEC) 20-week option entry: overall 5.5 with writing 5.5; other UEEC lengths and the Foundation/Essential Academic English courses have their own (lower) entry points. The page states 10-30 'weeks of additional English language' are needed to close the gap to direct-entry level but does not map specific band gaps to specific week counts.
  • Diploma applicants need 'good English skills' and are described as 'high-achieving'; specific secondary-school GPA/grade cut-offs and how a Mongolian certificate is assessed were not stated on the pages opened this session.
  • Personal statement (max 500 words) for the ISA application
  • ISA personal statement, max 500 words, on reasons for studying the proposed program
  • ISA is only for the Diploma or Pre-Masters program (not for direct UNSW degrees); students who complete a UNSW College Foundation program and move into a Diploma are treated as 'new students' for ISA purposes.
  • ISA award, as retrieved, is explicitly open to students commencing in 2024 or 2025 - a 2027-dated version of this document was not located this session, so confirm the award is still running before quoting it.

Where it leads

Guaranteed direct entry into 2nd year of a chosen UNSW Sydney bachelor's degree on Diploma completion with required grades.

Visa

Subclass 500 Student visa; Genuine Student requirement applies (see Australia Awards entry for details).

Things to know

Mongolia is explicitly named in Table A of the ISA terms and conditions as an eligible citizenship for the 15% award. Diploma itself is open to all international students who meet entry requirements, regardless of nationality.

The ISA document found is dated January 2024 and names 2024/2025 as its commencing intakes - treat the 15% award as 'likely still offered in similar form' rather than confirmed for 2027 until a current version is checked directly with UNSW College. Also confirm whether UNSW degree-entry IELTS (not just the College's internal English courses) is 6.5-7.0 as cited by third-party aggregators, since that was not independently re-confirmed on an official UNSW page this session.
