Deadlines

  • 30 Apr 2026 Applications for study commencing 2027 (this round)Passed. Expect a similar date next cycle. This round is already CLOSED as of the 2026-10-08 check date. Found on australiaawardsmongolia.org applications page and opportunitiesforyouth.org summary; exact closing date not independently re-verified on an official page this session, flagged as medium confidence.
  • 1 Feb 2027 Next round opens (expected to lead to 2028 commencement)116 days from nowHomepage (australiaawardsmongolia.org) states 'Applications will reopen in early 2027.' The FAQ page gives an opening date of 1 February 2027, with employment calculated 'up to 1 February 2027' and English test validity 'on 1 January 2028' - consistent with this being the NEXT round, i.e. for 2028 commencement, not 2027.

Where it leads

Postgraduate degree (mostly Master's) at an Australian university, fully funded by the Australian Government.

Visa

Subclass 500 Student visa. Genuine Student requirement (replaced the old Genuine Temporary Entrant test on 23 March 2024) applies to all applicants. No Mongolia-specific published evidentiary/risk tier was found on the Home Affairs overview page; exact document checklist is generated per passport-country + education-provider combination via the Department's Document Checklist Tool (immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/web-evidentiary-tool), updated twice yearly (last Thursday of March and September).

Things to know

Open specifically to Mongolian citizens under the Australia Awards - Mongolia program (separate allocation from the South Asia & Mongolia regional program). 50% of places reserved for public sector (Category 1), 50% for private sector/civil society/international organisations (Category 2).

Dates across the official pages are internally a little inconsistent about which commencement year the 'currently closed' round and the 'reopening early 2027' round each target - treat the 2027-intake window as effectively closed already (closed 30 Apr 2026) and the next realistic entry point as the 2028 intake (apply Feb 2027). Verify directly with australiaawardsmongolia.org before telling a client this is available for 2027.
